Family

Nnamulu Institute is particularly interested in making presentations (key Note Address, Workshops, One-on-One discussions, etc) on any of the above topics/issues. Such presentations can be made in any situation such as during conventions, group gatherings, etc.

On Our Family, following a fairly similar format, Dr. Udeaja will discuss the importance of preparing our children for a better future. While our culture emphases through various sayings that “parents pray that their children do better than the parents themselves,” he believes that in practical terms, more remains to be done to see this come to fruition at least on a consistent and sustained basis. Related to this is the issue of legacy. Using questions such as “what legacy do we want to leave for our children?” he will remind the group that what many often think is important may not lead to a legacy that benefits our children and consequently the society at large. Dr. Udeaja would further discuss the importance of remembering those in our country of origin who undoubtedly expect help from us. He would however caution that shot-gun approaches currently in practice, are inherently flawed and have the potential to hurt same people and the society that we want to help.

He would also discuss the importance of contributing to the growth and welfare of the society we currently live in, consistent with the Nigerian Igbo saying that “ebe onye bi ka ona awuchi”.

"Dr. Joseph Udeaja challenges immigrant Africans to abandon old ways of thinking if they wish to avoid the same mistakes that have hindered progress and personal development back home. His message always is right on target and welcome" — Boniface Otor, Pharm.D., Atlanta, Georgia.
